Jacksonville - Inside the new year book at Kitty Stone Elementary there's a special page dedicated to a special student. It's a full page honoring Megan Brittain.
Her best friend, Calli Boyles says, "I think she's really going to love it."
Her teacher, Phyllis Boudousquie, describes her as "amazing in every way."
Two years ago Brittain lost her mother to cancer. Soon after, she was diagnosed with the disease herself. It's been hard.
Boyles says, "She just wants to have fun and be treated normal, not like she has cancer."
Her friends knows doctors have done all they can.
Robin Boyles says "Like any of us she is afraid, but she knows that her life is in God's hands and we know that. And so she's going to go get to meet her mom."
But on Monday Megan will lead her own parade as the community celebrates Megan Brittain day in Jacksonville.
One of her classmates, Savannah Sthen, predicts, "She's going to have a good time and just forget everything that's happened to her and just celebrate what she's had here and where she's going to."
She'll be reunited with some familiar faces - friends, classmates and teachers who've learned a lesson from their student.
Boudousquie explains, "Many people have been touched by Megan in their lives, how we go about day to day and the things we treasure now because of her."
The parade route begins at 6:30 from Kitty Stone Elementary and travels to the square at Jacksonville. Although it may be a rainy day for a parade, there is a back up plan - whatever it takes to see Megan and be sure that she sees her friends.
Sthen says, "We just want to see the look on her face and want her to be really happy about it and let her know that we love her."
