There have been six deaths recently in which workers fell from cell towers. Half of them were on AT&T towers. One industry analyst says it may be due to AT&T rushing the rollout of its 3G network, thus pushing workers to the point of letting safety slide. In all of 2007, there were just ten cell tower deaths.
A company called Call/Recall is rolling out a new one terabyte optical disc. It says its technology is backward-compatible with Blu-Ray, so people with Blu-Ray DVD drives will not need new hardware to use the technology.
A California man has bilked online transaction sites out of thousands of dollars. He realized that when a new account is set up, the services deposit a small amount of money into the user's bank account, to verify the account is active. The man wrote a script hat gave him thousands of new accounts, and move about $50,000 to other accounts before the money could be retrieved.
