A gadget that does just one thing is OK...but at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, I saw a few that handle more than one task.
First up, USB Internet Security devices from Yoggie. They handle phishing, anti-spyware, anti-virus, firewall, parental controls, and much more. The internal chip takes some of the processing away from your CPU, actually increasing your system's performance. Yoggie uses Kaspersky internet security software- one of the best trusted names on the 'net.
UltraLast this year unveiled its Power station battery charger. It will take up to four AA batteries, and it ships with Hybrio batteries. They come fully charged, and have a long shelf life. This unit does more than just charge batteries- it can use the charged batteries to power up cell phones and other small electronics.
Zibra's Open It! was a hit at CES, even though it uses no electricity! It's a device that looks like a garden clipper, but is designed to open plastic clamshell cases in which many electronics are sold. It also contains a small utility blade good for opening CD and DVD skrinkwrap. Open It! also has a small screwdriver for opening the battery cases on many electronics.
