Sometimes cleaning up and fixing up can be an overwhelming job. But recently Tarrant schools got a huge lift from an area church. Shades Mountain Baptist members gathered at Tarrant schools on several Saturdays this spring, to gie the schools a face lift.
Judy Matthew the Principal of Tarrant Middle School, was glad the church picked her 13 year old school building for the painting mission. The middle school was one of four Tarrant school building renews with paint.
Church volunteer, Walter Church says the mission was a blast. Being a Christian is more than just Sunday school and about church it's about serving others.
The volunteers painted four school buildings. They painted inside and out.
Walter Church admitted he almost feel guilty doing it and calling it ministry cuz it was so much fun.
Gary Harvey is the Minister of Missions at Shades Mountain Baptist Church. He says, . "Our pastor has set out a vision for our church to make sure we are very involved in missions... In fact it's part of our dna."
A lot of Shades Mountain Members came to paint.
James Vaughn says, "Everybody was willing to do what ever it took. The quality was really surprised me when you have volunteers painting that aren't professionals.... You wonder. "
It's a job that could have easily cost the school system 85-thousand dollars.
James Vaughn,Coordinator of Maintenance. Labor is expensive part of painting so it really helped us out tremendously.
But thanks to the generosity of volunteers and donated paint, the renovation cost the school nothing!
Gary Harvey the Minister of missions says they felt by putting paint on the wall they would spell love through our labor.
Malik Turner is now one excited student. " I love em because at first we used to have walls with writing on them and now we have nice clean walls."
Kiyah Watson is a student who agrees, "It's a blessing what they did for us. "
The members involved in the project hope it will lead to a renewal of faith as well.
