A message from Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper:
"If you want a safer community, you need to take a stand. We know there's fear of retaliation. So that's why you can offer clues on the death of Leonard Jordan, and you'll never give your name.
Jordan was found dead along 13th Street Southwest in May of 2003. His body was left in the back of a blue Lincoln Continental. When officers found him, he had a large gash in his head. And he'd been shot several times.
Detectives spoke with neighbors. But none of them claimed to have seen who did the shooting. One of the neighbors reporting hearing gunshots, but she didn't look out the window because gunfire at night was not uncommon.
And that's the problem here. We want to lock up the folks who are firing their weapons, terrorizing neighbors and killing our residents.
Our only other clue: Another neighbor said he saw two men get out of a car on 13th Street and walk toward the rear of the vehicle. The men were wearing gloves.
So who were those two men? As for Leonard Jordan, did he ever say he feared for his safety? We ask that you help us find his killer and help us make sure that killer never takes another life.
Just call Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777. And let us know whatever you've heard.

Let's get justice for Leonard Jordan."
