Retail gas prices continued their upward climb over the weekend.
AAA Alabama says the average price of a gallon of regular in Montgomery on Monday was up a penny from Sunday to $3.60. The price also jumped one cent in Birmingham, to $3.61. And it increased two cents in Mobile, but remained unchanged in Huntville to $3.65 and $3.62, respectively. Its the same story in Tuscaloosa where regular rose a penny to $3.62.
The state average Monday was $3.62, the national average $3.72.
The Energy Department expects prices to peak at a monthly average of $3.73 in June, though many analysts say national average prices could rise as high as $4.
