There are new developments in the case surrounding the weekend shooting of a Jefferson County sheriff's deputy.
According to the Pelham Police Department, the deputy now admits he shot himself and was not assaulted by a burglar. The deputy initially told police that he was shot in the shoulder by a burglar when he entered his home late Saturday night.
Police said in a statement today, the deputy contacted his supervisor and admitted making up the story. Authorities said the case is under review to determine if criminal charges are warranted.
