In Your Health ... irregular sleep is good for your overall health. It's one of the government's largest studies to show a link between irregular sleep and big bellies. The new research released today finds people who sleep fewer than six hours a night - or more than nine - are more likely to be obese. The study by the National Center for Health Statistics also linked light sleepers to higher smoking rates, less physical activity and more alcohol use. The study involved 87,000 American adults from 2004 through 2006. ______ Middle-aged mothers under stress are not alone. The 2007 Stress in America survey found that almost 40% of female and male respondents ages 35 to 54 report extreme levels of stress. However, the American Psychological Association survey reveals that mothers ages 35 to 54 trying to balance child and parental care are more stressed than any other group. An APA member says, concern about your parent's health, retirement, a child's well-being, and their college is a lot to handle. _________ If you know a teenage driver listen up... New research shows teen drivers are not recognizing themselves as inexperienced drivers. And that continues to play a major role in teen injuries and death in car crashes. That's according to the Center for injury Research and Prevention at Children's Hospital at Philadelphia. The report in the May issue of Pediatrics shows.. almost 400,000 teen drivers and passengers sustained severe injuries in car crashes in 2005 . 4,700 teens dies from their injuries in 2004.
