Often when a life threatening illness strikes, finances become strained. But the exact opposite happened recently to a man from Ragland. The fact that he had a cancer insurance policy paid off for him. It was something he'd purchased many years ago and almost had forgotten about it, until he was diagnosed with the disease. He received a payoff... and what he did with a good portion of the money from that insurance policy was a Matter of Faith.
You could say health was no walk in the park for Randy Cox. As he and his wife Becky strolled through the Birmingham Botanical Gardens recently, he told me of his health struggles. A few years ago, his battle with a number of diseases began.
Randy Cox says, he gives all the praise and glory to God for being alive today. He's battled gout, hepatitus c , cancer and more. He goes every few months for a cancer treatment.
Shortly after Randy was diagnosed with cancer, he and his wife Becky got quite a surprise! He got a payout for his cancer policy. And they have a persistent salesman to thank for it.
Becky Cox says, "The Lord is many steps ahead of us in planning."
That unexpected money lead the cox family to make a difference in the lives of others, with colorful photographic pieces of art complete with a Bible verse to encourage others. The verses contain messages of hope, joy and peace. One of the many contains Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you. Declares the Lord. "plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future."
They put beautiful pictures together with Bible Verses. Becky Cox says the combination has helped many who've walked in the door.
Becky says, It's based on Deuteronomy six, where God says we are to hang His word in our homes and on our doorposts.
She also says its so important that we as parents expose our children to Gods word and we are hoping through osmosis they will see the pictures and grasp the verses.
The Cox family does sell the pictures but more often, gives them away as a ministry to people in hospitals the Cox family does sell the pictures but more often, gives them away as a ministry to people in hospitals and those who need encouragement.
Randy says, It's in the Lord's hands if he wants to do great and big things with it that's fine with us if he doesn't ... That's ok too.
It's basicly a Matter of Faith.
