Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper is asking for tips on the following case:
Ashley Stratton was 30 years old and the father of two children. Back on Friday, November 16th, 2007, someone ended his life.
It all started in the 3000-block of 12th Avenue North. Stratton and a friend met a group of men and followed them over to the 4400-block of 11th Court North near the Kingston area.
After arriving there, the men tried to rob both Stratton and his friend. During an unsuccessful attempt to escape, Stratton was shot. The wounded man was there dying, while his killers got away.
The friend dial 911, but Stratton died on the way to the hospital. Now, we need some anonymous tips on who pulled the trigger.
We know the group of men the victim met were driving a dark-colored car. It had red tape on the front headlight. And they were probably familiar with the area.
We need to know who those men were. You can help us find them, and we'll never ask your name.
Just call Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777.
You'll be given a code number, and that's how you stay anonymous. You can also log on to www.birminghamcrimestoppers.org and leave an encrypted tip.
If you help us catch this killer, we can make sure he never takes another life.
