Demopolis, Ala. - One man was killed in a plane crash near the Demopolis Municipal Airport Friday afternoon, ABC 33/40 has confirmed.
A source at the airport says the pilot of an experimental aircraft was involved in the crash shortly after takeoff. The plane went down roughly five miles south of the airport.
The Demopolis Times identifies the pilot as Mark E. Keeley of Forkland. Keeley was apparently the only person aboard the plane.
The Times reported the crash site is behind John Essex High School.
