(Sports Network) - Los Angeles Galaxy and United States national team forward Landon Donovan continued his early scoring outburst Saturday, and won his second straight Major League Soccer Player of the Week award Monday. Donovan had three goals and an assist in the Galaxy's 5-2 win over Chivas USA, giving him eight goals and two assists in just five games.
Donovan has at least two goals in his last three games and has more goals than six MLS teams. He had eight goals all of last season.

He was named the league's top player in Week 4 after scoring two goals against the Houston Dynamo - one of the team's he outscored by himself so far.
L.A., which is second in the Western Conference, settled for a 2-2 tie against Houston, but Donovan made sure his goals would be enough against Chivas.
Donovan's three-goal performance marks the second time he's achieved the feat. He notched a hat trick in 2003 against Kansas City as a member of the San Jose Earthquakes.
Donovan has 17 career multi-goal games, which is tied for second all-time with teammate Carlos Ruiz. Chivas USA forward Ante Razov holds the MLS record with 23 multi-goal games.
Donovan has been named player of the week seven times and this marks the ninth time that a player has received consecutive awards. Donovan and the Galaxy are back in action on Saturday at Real Salt Lake.
