By monday leaders in Anniston want trash and litter off the street. The city launched its "Clean and Green" campaign, aiming to help clean up streets in every district. The neighboring town of Hobson City has joined the effort. Both campaigns rely on volunteers.
Saturday morning residents will pick up trash and operate drop off points across the region. Anniston and Hobson City government provide bags and cleaning supplies. The county land fill will accept drop offs for free on saturday.
It's a campaign that organizers hope will engage the total community.
In Anniston several known hot spots for trash will be targeted. In Hobson City work crews will focus on cutting the grass and removing old signs and debris from around city hall.
Although the event relies on area volunteers, people from any community are invited to help out.
