Birmingham, AL -
A message from Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper:"We've been working leads for nearly two years. And now it's time to close the case on who killed Emmanuel Townes.Back in July of 2006, he was found shot to death inside an abandoned house on 32nd Street North. We think he might have been shot outside and then ran into the home. We're told Townes was last seen walking with a friend in the area in the early morning hours. Neighbors said they heard several gunshots around that same time. Our detectives are well aware that when something like this happens, people talk. Rumors fly around. And many times, even the killer brags about what he's done.So we're asking, what have you heard? Even if you don't know your information is valuable, we need you to call Crime Stoppers. We will not ask for your name. And Crime Stoppers will not call you to court. Our detectives will take what you've heard and then apply it to the case. We owe it to Mr. Townes and the people of Norwood. So call Crime Stoppers now at (205) 254-7777. Crime Stoppers has a cash reward if your tip leads to an arrest. And the governor's office has a separate, $5,000 reward for a conviction.Make the call. And understand, you're doing the right thing."*Crime Stoppers is a partnership between local law enforcement, the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce and ABC 33/40. Our goal is to clear unsolved cases and make Central Alabama a safer place to live and work.
