Warrior, AL - A 5 year-old boy is rushed to the hospital and his father is feared dead after their canoe flips over on the Warrior River.

It happened around 7pm Friday night. Warrior Police say the boy is alive thanks to a good samaritan. They say the good samaritan saw the canoe flip over, he then jumped in the water, swam to the father and son and tried to keep them afloat. Police say, at this point, the father was unconscious and the powerful current was too much to handle. The good samaritan had to make a choice, and he chose the boy.

The 5 year-old was taken by ambulance to Children's Hospital. Rescue crews from Warrior, Kimberly and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department spent the Friday night canvassing the river below the Church Street bridge in Warrior. As of 11pm Friday, the father had not been found.
