Don Siegelman was a popular Governor while in office.
His support remains so strong, in the midst of being released on bond, pending appeal.
Siegelman, currently a Mountain Brook resident, began serving his seven-year sentence in June.
Before his trial even started, supporters began writing letters to the federal courthouse in Montgomery, asking the judge to be lenient.
Still today, his supporters stand by his innocence, and would like to see further investigation.
Don Thompson of Mountain Brook says, "I am skeptical of the issues of tampering. I guess there's no harm in bringing it out and discussing it public. "
Matt Meloun, also of Mountain Brook, says, "I really think since the allegations of political motivation have come out things need to be investigated. He probably should be free on bond until a determination is made on whether that's the case or not."
Jail officials are expected to verify the order Friday morning.
Siegelman's attorneys say at that point he'll be free on bond, pending appeal.
