Curvygirl...it's not illegal and no one says it was. We're not talking about a criminal penalty here, we are talking about losing her job. There are all types of reasons people can lose their jobs and many of them aren't illegal. It can be a firing offense if she created a hostile environment for other employees or her employee handbook outlines a policy prohibiting profanity. Also, it's just stupid, unprofessional behavior from someone in that type of position and reflects badly on her judgement skills. She's not a blue collar employee hanging around at the plant shooting the breeze with the "guys". She was a director of a governmental agency and that requires a certain type behavior and ability to at least be civil to others she has to deal with to maintain the effectiveness of her organization and interactions with other officials. She can trash them all she wanted at home but it sure damages her ability to work effectively and represent her area when she stupidly burned those bridges in a work setting. Two weeks of leave certainly sounds like a fair penalty for the 2004 issue.
Regardless we don't know why they are firing her because the profanity was a prior problem. Until we know the reasons for her dismissal, I certainly am not going to be jumping on her wagon and you shouldn't either.
