Hoover, AL - The Spain Park High School principal is accused of misusing school funds. Hoover school leaders believe Billy Broadway used nearly $5,000 of school funds for personal use. Financial irregularities were found after a routine review of the school's books and records. The school board was notified of the issue Monday night. An official investigation is currently underway.

"We take it very seriously. This is something we're looking into. As indicated on the news release, the state ethics committee in Montgomery is assisting in the investigation," says Jason Gaston, Hoover City Schools spokesman.

Broadway is still acting principal. However, he submitted his retirement papers to officials before the accusations were made. His last day will be June 30th. Broadway has been head of Spain Park High since it opened in 2001.
