Sylacauga, AL -
A number of folks in Sylacauga may have lost their jobs, but they don't want to lose hope. Wednesday night a few hundred gathered at the BB Comer Memorial High School to pray. It was called an "Evening of Hope and Encouragement." It's been hard for a number of families, but on this night, there was hope.
"I've seen God do some wonderful things and perform miracles in their lives, so we're looking up," says Suzette Edwards.
"I believe if anybody can get us where we need to be it's Christ, and I am all about the community coming together and praying," says Rachel Pody.
"I know that God is not going to take away the bills or take away the debts we owe but He can bring that peace and calm assurance. And when we come together as a city, it really means a lot," David Isbell says.
Organizers are also starting a child nutrition program for children after finding out a number of them affected by layoffs don't have enough to eat on the weekends when school is out.
