Carbon Hill, AL - The family of 48-year old Leo Lennox Matthews is devastate after he perished in a house fire last night. Volunteer firefighters with the Saragosa community of Carbon Hill arrived on scene after getting the call at 9:19 pm. Two of them ran into the smoke filled home without breathing gear. They reached Matthews but had to back out when the ceiling began to fall in. Matthews family believes he was asleep when the fire started. Relatives say he was a man who loved life, God and family. State Fire Marshalls are trying to determine exactly what caused the blaze.
