HealthSouth founder Richard Scrushy's latest bid for prison release during an appeal of his bribery conviction includes a pledge of all his assets, except for living and legal expenses. Scrushy made that pledge in a filing this week with the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta.
Scrushy's lawyer, Art Leach, says Scrushy is willing to pledge everything, because he's not going anywhere.

He says Scrushy also is willing to be put on house arrest.
he offer was made to counter claims by federal prosecutors that Scrushy's wealth makes him a flight risk. Leach declined to put a dollar figure on Scrushy's wealth.
The appeals court denied Scrushy's earlier request to be released while he appeals his conviction. Scrushy had then offered his Birmingham and Lake Martin homes, together valued at more than $10 million, to secure an appeal bond.
A federal jury in 2006 convicted Scrushy and former Gov. Don Siegelman of bribery. Siegelman is serving a more than seven-year sentence at a federal prison in Oakdale, La., while Scrushy was sentenced to almost seven years and is being held at the federal prison in Beaumont, Texas.
