Jefferson County, Ala. - *Video of the suspects will be shown Tuesday night at 10:00 on ABC 33/40 News and again Wednesday morning during Good Morning Alabama.  The video will also be uploaded on this site Wednesday morning.*

Crime Stoppers detectives hope you can help identify suspects from several recent robberies.  Our first case focuses on three robberies at Winn-Dixie grocery stores in Birmingham and eastern Jefferson County.  The second case in this story highlights a robbery at a Cahaba Heights convenience store.

Winn-Dixie Robberies:  Three robberies took place at Winn-Dixie stores before Christmas.  The stores targeted are in Pinson, Clay, and along Montevallo Road in east Birmingham.  But three of the suspects were caught on camera in Five Points West.

Surveillance video attached to this article shows three men walking into a bank to cash a large amount of coins taken from one of the grocery stores.  Also, a suspect is seen on dash-cam video as he was chased by a deputy.  The suspect was able to get away before the deputy could get out of his vehicle.

Detectives are not sure why the suspects apparently prefer targeting Winn-Dixie stores.  But at least one of the robberies, the case from Clay, was particularly frightening.

"They put a gun to the manager's head and made him open the safe.  They put the customers in the floor; they put clerks in the floor," Jefferson County Lieutenant Bill Musgrove said.  "A second party with a weapon held everyone down, and then, they robbed the safe at the Winn-Dixie."

The suspects could be driving a late-model, white Buick.

No one was reported hurt during the robberies.  However, without someone providing an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers, deputies are concerned someone could get hurt in a future crime.

Cahaba Heights Convenience Store:  This case comes from October 21, 2008.  Justice may have been delayed, but if you can identify the suspect from the video attached to this story, justice will not be denied.

Surveillance cameras captured images of a man making what was a routine purchase.  But as soon as the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man lunged onto the counter and grabbed whatever he could from the register.

The man quickly got away.  But the surveillance images are so clear, detectives are certain someone will be able to recognize him.  Now, they just need that person to call Crime Stoppers and offer an anonymous tip on who the suspect is, or where he can be found.

If you recognize suspects from either case:  Call Crime Stoppers now at (205) 254-7777.  You will never have to give your name.  Instead, you will be given a private code number.  And if your tip is the first to lead to an arrest, you use that code number to claim a cash reward.

Also, encrypted tips can be submitted online by going to www.birminghamcrimestoppers.org and clicking on the "submit an online tip" link.

Crime Stoppers is a partnership between local law enforcement, the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce and ABC 33/40.  Together, our goal is to make our community a safer place to live and work.
