MAY ROLLS ALONG: and since the recent storms, our May weather has not been overly dramatic. However, it is going to be very interesting to tally up the total rain amount for various sections of the state at the end of the month. Some places in East Alabama got as much as 7 inches of rain last weekend. We have had a number of groups of thunderstorms moving across from west to east. A number of those were overdosed with lightning which caused a lot of problems. We believe now that we are fairly home free from dealing with too much severe weather. I cannot say that with a guarantee at the moment. The Storm Prediction Center has a small part of North Alabama under a Slight Risk of severe weather this afternoon and tonight. That Slight Risk extends far to the northeast—even into New England.
SO LET'S GET BACK TO THE ALABAMA WEATHER AT HAND: On the old thermometer, we have no complaints. We don't see any more 90-degree heat for the next seven days. In fact, the daily highs will be in the low to mid 80s every day except for a cooler 77 Friday. That is when another cool front will move into our state and give us some nice weather next weekend and well into next week. Indeed look for some low temperatures in the low 50s over the weekend. It is near certain that some of the Northeast Alabama cold spots will be in the 40s. We do not see a great deal of thunderstorms, but there may be some this afternoon and evening and a slight chance Thursday morning. After that we have not mentioned showers or storms all the way through next Tuesday.

Occasionally cloudy with scattered showers and storms.

Partly sunny and warm. A shower or storm possible late in the day.

Sunny, cooler, and less humid.
