ABC 33/40 Contest FAQ

Why do I have to drive to the station to pick up my prize?
ABC 33/40 requires ALL contest winners to pick up prizes at the television station. We generally do not mail prizes due to legal ramifications, and we simply cannot replace items that are lost or damaged in the mail. All winners are required to pick up prizes at the ABC 33/40 Studios, 800 Concourse Parkway, Suite 200, Birmingham, AL 35244.

What do I need to provide to prove my identity when I claim my prize?
Please bring a photo ID with you (driver’s license, military ID, student ID, U.S. passport, etc.). If your address is different from the address on your ID, please bring proof of address (a utility bill will work) along with you.

Can I pick up my prize on the weekend?
No. The ABC 33/40 main office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Can someone else pick up my prize for me?
Sorry, we cannot allow someone else to pick up your prize. Only the prize winner is allowed to claim the prize.

I live near the Anniston (or Tuscaloosa) office. Can I pick up my prize there?
Unfortunately, these offices are not staffed full-time, so we can’t allow prize pickup at these locations.

I tried to win, but I was told I do not live in the ABC 33/40 viewing area. What gives?
Our corporate contest guidelines specify winners must live within the ABC 33/40 market area, which includes the following counties: Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Coosa, Cullman, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Marion, Pickens, St. Clair, Shelby, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker, Winston.
We understand we have viewers in counties other than the ones listed above, but unfortunately, some counties are assigned to other television markets. For example, many people watch us in Cleburne County, but Cleburne County is technically assigned to the Atlanta, GA television market. Marengo County is assigned to the Montgomery television market, and Lamar County is assigned to the Meridian, MS television market. Television markets are determined by the Nielsen Company, which assigns areas to certain television markets based on the majority of viewership.

Why does it take so long for someone to answer the phone?
We only have one person taking winners’ names, phone numbers and addresses, so it takes awhile to answer the phones for the number of winners per contest. We only have one phone line for contest calls. By the way, our contest line is NOT equipped with caller ID, so we have no idea who is calling when we answer the phone.
