Do you have a plan to receive severe weather warnings? If you still rely on outdoor sirens as your sole means of receiving a warning, you need to reconsider your methods. ABC 33/40 encourages you to be prepared the next time severe weather threatens. We are offering three easy and inexpensive ways for you to properly receive warnings. Read about these devices and make the choice that best suits your needs. Remember, you must take personal responsibility to protect you and your family from severe weather.

WeatherCall will alert you with your choice of a voice phone call or text message if the physical address you register falls within a warned polygon. This is a good option if you want to be warned about an address that might be different from your current location (For example, a child away at college, or a warning for your home area while you are at work).

Your smart phone will “wake up” when a weather warning is issued, and also “follow you” using GPS technology. No matter where you are physically located, if you are within a warned polygon, you will receive critical weather information.

A Midland NOAA Weather Radio using SAME technology will alert you when a warning is issued for your county. This is a good option for in-home use, or if you want to be warned of severe weather anywhere in your county.
