I'm encouraged that we will all find a cure for cancer soon! My friends and I have been working on the "Brenda Ladun Conquor Cancer Run" Mark your day timer... It's Saturday January 26th at Vetran's Park in Hoover on Valleydale road. I'm more determined than ever for this to be a huge success. I'm also touched by the support from the community already. So many people have experienced cancer or have had a friend or family member who's gone through the battle.
The money raised will go to the American Cancer Society. The money will help people fight cancer who can't afford a hotel room while being treated in Birmingham. I'm talking about the Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge. What an incredible place. The American Cancer Society uses it to help people stay free of charge during their treatments. Believe it or not some people would not be treated if not for a place like this, because they simply can't afford the transportaion costs and they can't afford a hotel for an extended period of time. Churches and groups offer to make meals for those staying there. It's a place cancer patients can share their stories with one another, it's a place to get support from people who care and yes it's a place to find hope.
I've had many people ask, what they can do for me. My answser is pray. But don't just pray for me. Pray for all the others fighting this battle. We all need encouragement and hope. Beyond that, sign up for the race January 26th. You can go to Active.com. There will also be forms at the St. Vincent's Bruno Cancer Center. The more money we raise together to fight this deadly disease the better. If you don't want to run, you can walk or crawl. This year a crawl sounds good to me. Or you can simply make a donation and show up!
I'm glad to hear that they jumped right on it. I feel like you're off work at times because of chemotherapy. I know you are a strong person and you can get past this too. Your faith is also a plus.
Love and Merry Christmas.
