Conquor Cancer Run
category: Cancer

I'm encouraged that we will all find a cure for cancer soon!  My friends and I have been working on the "Brenda Ladun Conquor Cancer Run"  Mark your day timer...  It's Saturday January 26th at Vetran's Park in Hoover on Valleydale road.   I'm more determined than ever for this to be a huge success.  I'm also touched by the support from the community already.  So many people have experienced cancer or have had a friend or family member who's gone through the battle.

The money raised will go to the American Cancer Society.  The money will help people fight cancer who can't afford a hotel room while being treated in Birmingham.  I'm talking about the Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge.  What an incredible place.  The American Cancer Society uses it to help people stay free of charge during their treatments.  Believe it or not some people would not be treated if not for a place like this, because they simply can't afford the transportaion costs and they can't afford a hotel for an extended period of time.   Churches and groups offer to make meals for those staying there.  It's a place cancer patients can share their stories with one another, it's a place to get support from people who care and yes it's a place to find hope.

I've had many people ask, what they can do for me.  My answser is pray.  But don't just pray for me.  Pray for all the others fighting this battle.  We all need encouragement and hope.   Beyond that, sign up for the race January 26th.  You can go to Active.com.   There will also be forms at the St. Vincent's Bruno Cancer Center.  The more money we raise together to fight this deadly disease the better.  If you don't want to run, you can walk or crawl.  This year a crawl sounds good to me.  Or you can simply make a donation and show up!

I would love to do this with my daughters but can we walk instead of run? I have had cancer twice and been fine since September so I need for information on this.

Brenda- I am glad to hear you are feeling better. I just lost my mom on Oct. 14th to Ovarian cancer. I will be praying for you and your family. I want to do the race in the 26th. I tried getting on Active. com but could not find it. Can you help me? Thanks. Meghan

I'm so glad you are feeling better. I had remarked to my husband several times that I was concerned that you were not working and had not updated your blog. Don't work too hard and get as much rest as possible. I agree that time with our family and those we love is some of the most precious time we have. Take care. God bless!

Thank you so much... sorry for being out of it for awhile... I had a bad cold and planned to try to work until my doc strongly insisted I take some time to rest. I've been so determined to keep life as usual, I guess I didn't rest enough and a bad cold hit pretty hard. The next week I had vacation and rested a little more. I also got a chance to visit with family and get ready for Christmas. You are all so dear, thank you for the prayers. I feel the Lord working. I also appreciate the little guy missing me... I'll have to tell the boys my new name.... Brenda Punkins! I love it thanks and God Bless. Brenda

Hi Brenda, our family wants you to know that we have always enjoyed having you in our home as we watch you on the broadcast and we pray for you and your family. My Grandmother had breast cancer and I know how tired you can get from the meds and treatment but you always have a smile on your face for us. Stay strong and know that lots and lots of people out here care for you and pray for you. Thank you for all you do.

We will continue to help you press on to the day when he tells you the same. have Wonderful Christmas Regina

Hey, girl. I'm sorry to hear your breast cancer is back.

I'm glad to hear that they jumped right on it. I feel like you're off work at times because of chemotherapy. I know you are a strong person and you can get past this too. Your faith is also a plus.

Love and Merry Christmas.

Arlene

I hope you're resting well Brenda. I just wanted to tell you a bit about my little 3 year old son and his crush on you. way back before the announcement of your diagnosis, he noticed that you weren't there one whole week, everyday. The next week, i told him since one of the anchors had been on vacation the week berore, that you were probably on vacation, not to worry, you'd be back. the second week passed, I told him that you would probably be back on Monday. He still asked me everyday where's Brenda? I told him I wasn't sure. i asked him did he miss you, he said, "yes, Brenda's my punkins". when you returned, I've never seen his face that bright red before, nor him so exited!! You have know idea how much we care about you. you're such an amazing and strong woman. You will fight this, and come out on top once again! i'm not able to donate anything right now, but thought I'd donate this story, hope you enjoyed it. praying for you everyday. We love you, Erica and Warren

Dear Brenda, You have been a wonderful inspiration to us all as you have gone through this season of your life. You are loved by many people who have seen your faith through this trial, and continue to see your faithfulness. I am praying for you.

Brenda, Just a quick hello and WELL WISHES for you today! We are still praying for you and in hopes that God is working on you to heal you and make you better. The Lord never puts on us more than we can bear and, if we are going through a trial HE WILL MAKE US BETTER in the long run of things if we trust fully on Him. God is still working miracles on you and when 2 or 3 agree on any one thing, HE WILL WORK His miracle right into the lives of those who needed and ask for His help. So, keep asking and we as 2 or more are still believing that your miracles on the way. Be Blessed today and always,Tracy Butler

BRENDA BE STRONG IN THE LORD AND IN THE POWER OF HIS MIGHT. GOD IS A HEALER AND HE'S STILL HEALING PEOPLE TODAY. I HAVE INCLUDED YOU AND ROBIN ROBERTS IN MY PRAYER BELIEVING GOD TO HEAL YOU TOTALLY. I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS WHO ARE BATTLING CANCER TOO AND THEY ARE DOING GOOD. ALL I CAN SAY IS TO PUT YOUR TRUST IN GOD--THE NATURAL WORKS ALONG WITH THE SUPERNATURAL. NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES ARE--LOOK TO GOD'S WORD AND BELIEVE THEM. THAT IS ALL HE WANTS US TO DO. I KNOW THAT GOD WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.

Brenda & Family: Please know that we are praying for you and your family and also for others undergoing cancer treatment. One of my friends, Elaine Mixon Sholes, was the first person to undergo a bone marrow transplant specifically for breast cancer. I also have a neighbor that had a transplant for breast cancer and is also doing well. Elaine's cancer, like yours, came back even after the transplant in the exact same place. Even though her cancer returned, her doctors were encouraged that it had come back in the exact same place. She also had to have additional treatment and she is doing well today. I believe this was about 12 years ago; and of course, many strides have been made in treatment since then. Courageous people like you, her and others who reach out to others in your own time of need are such inspirations. May God continue to bless you and all that you do. My church, Odenville Presbyterian Church, will include you and your family on our prayer list.

Sandy
The Lord that I serve is greater than the American Medical Association. So, I believe that a cure is just around the corner. The Bible says that where two are united in prayer and ask believing, He will hear their prayer and answer it. So, I say, Brenda keep up the fight for the cure. I know that it has almost been found and I KNOW that He hears our prayers and will answer them.

God Bless and thanks for keeping on keeping on!

Sandy

Good luck beating cancer. I'm afraid that cancer is too profitable an illness for a cure to make it to the market here (The AMA simply wouldn't not allow the cure to reach people), but I hope you beat the cancer once and for all. Pray hell! I'll do something that will have an effect or nothing.
