
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Robert Bentley is spending the weekend trying to round up legislative support for his proposal to delay Alabama's new private school tax credits for two years. Bentley spoke Saturday at the Alabama League of Municipalities convention in Montgomery and urged several hundred city officials to contact their legislators before the Legislature's last meeting day on Monday.
COTTONDALE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a man shot in the groin at an Alabama hunting camp may have been mistaken for wild game. The Tuscaloosa County sheriff's homicide unit is investigating the shooting early Saturday, which sent a 26-year-old man to a hospital for surgery.
TROY, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama judge has overturned a Troy man's two rape convictions and ordered a new trial, saying prosecutors failed to share evidence relevant to the man's defense. Andre Lamon Ellis was granted a new trial Friday by Pike County Circuit Judge Jeffrey W. Kelley.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters say flash flooding across roads is being reported in eastern Alabama and more could occur as showers and thunderstorms move into the central areas of the state. National Weather Service meteorologist Jessica Talley said Saturday flash floods were reported from Talladega to Oxford about 20 miles away.
